Monkeys in the zoo

School holidays have started and I was lucky to get four corporate tickets to the zoo today! I had wanted to get Mother along since she hadn't been for ages - maybe since that time when I was almost kidnapped? Haha! - and just get a child ticket for Yu. But she didn't want to go. Ah well...

Due to the pandemic, everything must be booked in advance. So instead of leisurely waking up and taking our time to get to the zoo, I had to rush them here and there to make sure we didn't get there too late.

Yang offered to take the photo instead of being in it

Yu stood there for a photo when he saw me with my phone!

A peacock! The boys followed it for a while...

This peacock then met another one :p I said that only the boys are good-looking. Kai said he knew about peahens and peachicks. Ok, I didn't know about peachicks :p

This boy wasn't terribly interested in any other animals, including this majesty beast!

Cute hippos - remind me of Yu :p

Yu looking at a meerkat playing with yakult bottles!

Monkeys vs. baboons - 谁看谁呢!

Were they looking at the kangaroos or the poop?!

Now they took a stroll with two peahens

Going up to...

... become elephants!

The older two were babies...

The youngest chose the adult

We went to see the real deal and then had snack

And cold juice - yes, I brought a cold bag along!

Only the three of them at the playground today

Kai wanted a photo and a video of himself - rare!

We used to go anti-clockwise. This time, we went clockwise - hence the playground at the beginning instead of the end - and saw some animals we had not seen before, like the kangaroos.

Must climb statues

I tried to book shows many, many times but couldn't get seats. Should have expected it - only 20% can be children 12 and under. Hello, this is the zoo, during school holidays! We saw a number of adults booking seats at the entrance to the theatre maybe 20 min before show time so I tried again but failed. Sighs. Some parents tried to book all adults but the staff told them to rebook. I must say the staff were really nice about it.

So we went climbing! We passed by the rope courses a few times but never tried - no proper shoes and rather ex. But this time, I thought I should let them try. At first, Kai said we should go as we had to pay - awww! I told him to go ahead. But before I paid, I checked with each to make sure they would be ok to wear harness etc!

Yu was very pleased!

He was only 1 cm short of making the high course so actually, even the "more challenging" parts weren't too challenging for him

An adult needs to be with the kid in the mini course so I didn't get many good pictures for Kai and Yang. Yu rested in the middle to go see his brothers. Eventually, he decided to stop after going through the course many times! We then waited for his brothers to come down.

Taken during Yu's break

Yu might have found it too easy. But Kai and Yang were definitely challenged! Yang was still thinking about it during dinner and was pleased to learn that I was planning to sign them up for more climbing! My monkeys :)

It started drizzling when we were at the rope course. We hopped into the crocodile enclosure after that and had lunch - I packed bakery buns for us so we didn't have to eat KFC again. And it started pouring! This was the second time that Yang and I had to stay there due to the rain - and he remembered!

Kai decided to rest on me - for maybe 10 seconds *.*

Yang and Yu were jumping self-entertaining all over the place

Then the mule of the day got a massage - ahhh....

We headed to the kiddy area when the rain turned into a drizzle. But the merry-go-round was suspended! So sad... We left soon for the exit, passing by the African area. Kai had wanted to poop since we left the rope course so we went home instead of going to River Safari.

At the entrance/exit... There's this dino exhibition in there but we didn't see :p

But we couldn't get a taxi! Ended up taking the bus home, which was convenient enough. Thankfully, Kai's poop stayed in :p

I packed coffee and some yakitori on the way home. Need to top up their protein and my caffeine :p Let them play Nintendo after we settled down. I was too tired!

Didn't plan anything else this week. But next week, Kai and Yang are going for a camp! I'm pretty excited about it! But I dread the thought of sending them to Mountbatten in the morning, coming home to work and going to fetch them in the afternoon again - for five days! Better prepare jackets for the morning train rides 💪
