10 or 11 years of living together, with 8 as parents

We were in the taxi home on Friday.

mf: This year marks 10 years of living together...
Sito: ... We got married in 2009 right?
mf: Yup!
...
mf: Oh, 11!
Sito: I thought I got it wrong!
mf: Oops....

5 Dec is a Saturday this year, like 10 11 years ago :)

We took leave on Friday to go out. Kind of settled on lunch venue only on Wednesday - The Line at Shangri-La. Thought of bringing Kai out as well but he's too old to dine free with us and we didn't fancy paying $50 for him to eat close to nothing :p So he got his wish of playing laptop games!

It's so Christmasy!

Glasses are a must when eating out these days due to online menus

But we realised buffet isn't so good when it's a la carte: (1) Gotta wait; (2) Food doesn't arrive; (3) Wrong food arrives. In particular, we realised that the staff had sent our butter chicken and kiddy chicken wings to the Indian family with kids behind us *.* We ended up eating a lot of desserts - Sito has four scoops of ice cream!

Bread and butter pudding turned out to be the most satisfying for me

We headed for Orchard after that but somehow took the longer route along Stevens Road - just spent more time chatting and holding hands instead of running errands! Passed by the FORMER RGS - there really was a "FORMER" right above the school name outside the gate!

Lucky for us, it started to drizzle just as we reached civilisation at Shaw. I had wanted to go to Paragon to collect my pen but it was getting late so we went straight to Forum to get toys. We were reaching Forum when we saw people squealing in front of us - rain front! Pulled out our brolly in time :p

We decided that it was better to ask the kids what they wanted than to bring them to choose toys. Still remember that year when Kai chose an expensive fire station that he barely touched... Glad that Yu is happily playing with that now.

Kai called me soon after we got there. He reiterated his request for a nerf gun. So Papa got one for him. Yang was very clear earlier that he wanted a moving robot. But what exactly is a moving robot??! We found a number and decided on a pair of robots that can play football. Yu was super iffy - he said he wanted Poli but we already have Poli at home! Anyway, couldn't find something Poli that didn't look boring so we found him a Paw Patrol toy that can transform and shoot stuff instead.

Queuing to pay

Kai saw us come home but was very guai in not touching the toys. Later, when Yu went to his room to keep a toy, he discovered the bag and came calling for me excitedly - come, Mama, look! And he couldn't resist touching it and getting Yang into the action as well! We quickly wrapped them up after they went to bed! This year, Toys R Us doesn't have gift wrapping service, probably due to COVID.

Friday night is usually date night. But we were still full from lunch and Sito wasn't feeling too well with a drippy nose so we didn't go out. In fact, we didn't have dinner!

I had wanted to bake a butter cake on Saturday but I realised we didn't have enough eggs *.* I thought I'd try a new cookie recipe but I remembered I had to help the preschoolers with their family craft activities!

Yu wanted to start on his at breakfast time

We started on Yang's after breakfast

But don't be deceived - they were mostly done by the parents!!!! Especially Yang's one - it's so difficult AND we don't have wet glue; dry glue didn't work. Luckily, I didn't bake.

Sito came out at the end and helped 5% with the second star - turned out to be couple activity hoho!

Anyway, we didn't finish it. Packed the stars into the plastic sleeve once they were strung up. Couldn't take it already!

We had our usual sedentary afternoon before heading out to Ikea. Standard crowds. They got us a table at a new section so we were lucky. The kids had what they had the last time (or two?) - fries and wings for Kai, pasta and wings for Yang, meatball pasta for Yu. Sito had meatballs this time while I had wings and scraps - Yu's unfinished pasta and meatballs, Kai's leftover fries. Good to minimise food waste!

We have one more plate of wings on the tray :p

I've learnt to bring a towel along when we go to Ikea - the kids will inevitably need to wash hands after the wings and/or pee. In fact, I try to remember the towel even when we head downstairs. Better the towel than the hand dryer!

The kids spent some time in the kids' section, playing with random little things and even making a friend along the way! Actually, it was the other boy who asked if he could play together.

Awww... Then I realised that must be so germy!

I took the chance to grab a potty seat - Yu is getting too big for our Baby Bjorn potty and seriously, I need his waste to go straight into the water else it's just too smelly!!! We already have one potty seat but Yang still needs it; we tried and his bum is still a bit small for the regular seat :p So now, we have potty seats in both bathrooms. Also grabbed a step stool - need it to facilitate Yang's poo and help Yu get on the seat.

Anyway... Then they wanted to see the rooms. So we saw bedrooms, little apartments and a whole lot of kitchens. The trip was cut short when Kai took some freestanding hand sanitiser, found it smelly and went around getting us to smell - he accidentally touched Yang's eyes. So Sito brought Yang to wash his eyes and we went to pay after that. No more rooms!

Yu dozed off on our way home. He woke on arrival so we agreed to go for ice cream. Kai by then decided he would go home to have a Cornetto instead. So Yang and Yu shared a hot fudge sundae at Macs. Chop chop go back and rest.

Hmmm, seems that this anniversary is largely about the kids?! Hoho! Life of parents :p

Happy to head out yesterday afternoon to collect my pen. At first, Yang was to go with me but he decided to play instead of spend time with Mama, hmph! So Sito decided he would go instead of nap. But he napped after that :p

Quite nice to take a familiar bus to town :) I think our first home will always be remembered fondly, even the commute to and from it!

Us while waiting for bus 106 to go back
