A simple day

CY is playing with my Dopod while I'm on her comp. We just cooked some spaghetti for lunch. Um, to be more accurate, it was a lot of spaghetti, with crab sticks, hotdog and tomatoes :p We took some photos but no time to upload yet; we're just slacking now!

I've decided, I'm not going out tonight anymore, no party, no dressing up, just enjoying some peace and generally relaxing, ahhh... And I should iron my clothes too :p

简单生活! :)

PS: 谢谢你毛毛兔,这个下午真好玩 | Thank you, Furry Bunny, for a wonderful afternoon.

Typing with weak arms

My Friday plans never seem to go as planned. Yesterday, things picked up just before I walked out for lunch outside. Fyi, it's a feat to get me out for lunch cos I'm lazy :p So, I packed lunch.

Barely finished when I got another call to rush something else - let's call it Item A. And at the same time, a couple of other urgent things cropped up.

Now, this bit isn't going to sound too sane: I actually felt this adrenaline rush as the work came in via sms and phone!! So exciting and exhilarating and fun and yet at the same time I was screaming like a mad woman and tearing out my hair as sms and phone call repeatedly disrupted my concentration on Item A! Gee, I actually like being busy *.*

So it wasn't until 545pm that I managed to get down to Item A.. TO and I were suddenly robbed of our 525pm dismissal hour even though Da Boss was away on retreat! :p

Turned up very late for dinner with YX. But JD was later albeit by a bit :p The new Market Place at Raffles City was very nice. Checked it out last week after dancing, when Sito bought some British junk food. This time, we had proper food, not at one of the new restaurants where queues were too long but the good old Out of the Pan.

No luck with TCC for kopi as we reached the Funan branch 15min before closing time. TCC at Clarke Quay was the next choice but we were talking about
racing and guess what? We went to Marina South to play Daytona!! I got 2nd a few times - happy cos it meant I could beat either of them at some point - and I didn't even use brake! :p

Then we found this tag rally game where you had to bump other cars to transfer a time bomb to them. It was fun and I was screaming all the way! But my left arm was so useless I gave up after a while. But that was only me.. They didn't give up, and they refused to let me give up!

Next was Bishi Bashi! I could never win the rounds where you had to really whack the buttons fast and furious (btw I want to watch Tokyo Drift!) so they helped :p

Dead arms + empty stomachs = supper! Headed for the prata place near Amara for chow and chat. Some sound bites to share:

1) Was telling YX and JD I transferred 200+ names one by one from my Samsung to my SIM card.. I was quite sure I could transfer all my SIM card contacts to my Dopod at one go but I couldn't find the function - and I left my manual in the office. So I manually transferred some 200 names before I got really frustrated and complained to Sito. Didn't ask him earlier cos I thought he was in Jap class. Turned out he didn't go that day and turned out that there was this thing called Sim Manager =(

JD: Your wrist should be very strong now?? :p
YX: We call this "user fault"!

Later, we were heading for the carpark and I pushed the door. Not budging.

YX: Handle! Tsk tsk, USER FAULT! :p

2) When my arms were both gone from the arcade games..

mf: If boss asks me to work tomorrow, I'm going to say I can't even type *.*

3) Some may know how I like my ice tea - no sugar, no milk.

mf: I want tea, no sugar - um, kosong.. No milk too.. Ice!
Uncle: Ok, teh-o kosong beng! Next?

*.*

Well, at least he understood..

4) Do you know what a tulang is? We were roaring last night when JD said his friend took over his tulang and went "I'm sucking JD's tulang"!

5) A scary thing happened too..

mf: Once, I almost pushed myself out of my office window cos I didn't realised the window hinge was in the middle..
JD: If I were Kel, I would say, "I'll be afraid, not for you but the people below!"

mf: Oh no! One Kel is enough!! Why are my friends all like that?!
YX: I think it's you.. When you're not around, they're quite normal!

Mr Right for everyone!

Well, almost.. Cos I think Mr Right is about baby size at full size *.*

But hey, check out his good points!

Hmmm, seems that Mr Right shrinks back to finger size when dry :p

Choking hazard? It's more than a choking hazard! Can you imagine if Mr Right grows in your stomach?! o_O

Thanks to ZF for sharing! :)

Forgetful or blur?

Reached office at about 810am today, opened my drawer and found..NO LAPTOP! Took me a second to realise I left it on the sofa =(

My Dopod has, well, taught me to save. So I took the bus back to get my dear computer.. Wasted an hour just like that =( Luckily my bosses away on retreat so less emails :p

All that travel.. It already seems like half a day has passed!

..

Cheer up! Cheer up! It's Friday! Share something nice later..

Pink rules!

Ok, I've said that pink isn't my fave colour. No, really, it isn't - I prefer cheery yellow :) Still, I just spent $899 on a pink Dopod!!!!!

That's $351 more expensive than the alternative - black Palm TX. Black. So not me.. At least pink is cheerful =D

I know, I know.. I don't need another phone, much less a pink phone, but I do need an organiser! In the past two weeks, I found myself juggling three overlapping appointments one day, two appointments another. I've had enough! You have permission to laugh if I clash appointments again :p

Pink Dopod :)

Rushing blog through lunch :p

Films
Combien left me totally blur; I didn't know which parts were real and which imagined! I had thought, from the synopsis, that it was a simple love story involving a lot of money, a beauty and a mafia boss but no, it was more complicated than that. The doc was particularly memorable; he was a sad-looking fellow who loved this dying woman but later they realised she had died five years ago. Grossed out by braless boobs (dropping to the waist!) although Monica Belluci kept really well for her age!

Talking about boobs, there was a measuring tape at the costume rack yesterday - maybe it's always been there but anyway.. I realise I had been wrong all this while: Sito is not quadruple A; his cup size is A! :p

Back to films, Pirates flew by in 2.5hours. I was waiting for an ending that never came - when will the third one be out?? Next to watch is Lake House, a Hollywood remake of Siworae.

351 grains of rice
Went on to meet the Oxonians. Ordered the tonkatsu wazen set at Waraku ie pork cutlet with rice AND udon..

mf: Oh no, for the first time in many years, I'm not finishing my rice.. =(
Friends: *no big deal*

*mf stares into rice*

SW: ... Think of the hungry kids! You're killing one if you don't finish!
mf: o_O

And mf looked even more pathetically into her unfinished bowl of rice and contemplated finishing the thing.. Until waitress came by to clear..

mf officially wasted rice!!! =(

Jon: Even if you finish the rice, no dead kid will come alive la!

Keeping it up
SW was telling us about her triathlete boss who looked damn good even in her forties and with two kids. We agreed it was a case of both genes and proper maintenance, with the former more powerful. We agreed that the current "state" of our mothers and aunts would give a good indication of how we would look like in twenty years.

Mother, the village flower, exploded sideways, front and back after giving birth. I have two aunts - one has three kids and looks worse than Mother; the other is unmarried without kids, slightly plump now cos she lost some weight lately. So for me, married or single, I'm doomed to be bah bah *.*

"mf, you can start now.. You have twenty years to make sure you still look good in your forties!"

Livelihood
When a bunch of civil servants get together, career progression seems to be an inevitable topic. At least for this group. I'll brush up on my culinary skills to prepare for my retreat from civil service. Can do a joint venture with SW and Yen Bookshop! Then we'll set our own CEP and decide our PB!

"We'll give mf a higher PB since her egg tarts are selling so well!"

Sounds good :p

Keeping it alive
And when this group of people come together, it's also inevitable to go back to the good old days..

We remembered the first time all of us met one another - in NACLI when a senior came by with a colourful map of Oxford. And LS, SW and Yen suddenly realised they were in the same OBS watch..

We remembered us crowding my tiny bedroom floor around pasta, baked honey chicken, salad etc.

We remembered the time I was bunking in with LS, and how little I drank and how much she drank - she kept refilling her water filter!

But I'm forgetting things like the location of Turl St.. I need to go back and have a look!

Grams, oh lovely Grams!
I stood in the doorway of the utility room watching Grams prepare dinner. I could see concentration across her face as she cut the seabass. Her cheek muscles tightened and her cheeks rounded up into little balls of flesh just next to her mouth - so cute! And her earlobes were also shaking with the weight of the jade earrings as she moved a little when she washed the fish.

"Come, eat more rice! A lot of rice!"

And she came to the table with a spatula of rice. Mother and 2nd Uncle covered their rice bowl stubbornly. I had washed my bowl by then and thus was spared but..

"Finish the fried scallops! Eat, eat!"

How could I refuse? I popped two more of those into my mouth just before we left.

Now you see, every two Sundays, I get fed and fat :p

My LV

Mother brought a few sets of VCD back yesterday. Korean dramas. I don't like them much:
1) Too heavy for my liking, too much crying..
2) In fact, the leads tend to be unbelievably suay in love and in health; I don't want to see people die of leukemia AGAIN..
3) What's this thing with wealthy families?!
4) Can't stand the cu1 lu3 girls whose "friendly" punches don't look too friendly..
5) Or the big glaring (surgeoned) eyes of the evil sister!

I prefer the similarly fairy tale-like but brighter and happier Jap dramas involving ordinary people - no rich dad, no evil sister -, especially those older ones like Long Vacation. If anyone remembers, I was asking around for LV some two years ago. Then I finally found the VCD set when I went to Malacca half a year later.

LV is my all-time favourite! I first watched it in 2000 in my little room, laughing and crying by myself. I also got my hands on many of the very very nice soundtrack songs, which I listened to over and over again.

Recently, I was watching the 3rd episode on my own again, laughing again, the crying part was still far. Then I heard this tune. I don't have that tune, I'm sure. I've decided that I now want the whole soundtrack. Checked with the music stores - they don't hold it anymore; one even told me they tried ordering but couldn't get any..

Then my luck star shone on me - KKP found the complete box set in Malacca!! Thank you so much!! :) The CDs are with me now. There are lyrics, and even piano scores for the instrumental pieces and Sena's winning competition piece! Very happy :) I'm going to listen to them tonight! :)

Hey you look like..

Some years back, was in Berlin or Munich with WX and her friends. One of them showed me a photo taken at a house party. I was smiling at the camera but hey, wait a minute, I didn't know any of the other people in the photo! It was a bit freakish to see such striking resemblance..

When ZF first came in, she said I looked like her senior. Then the new chap in office said I looked and sounded like his schoolmate.

Is this a DA ZHONG LIAN??

Sighs..

Thought the two new guys in office looked and sounded very much like a long lost friend whom I mugged for "A" levels with, and Ultimo.

Maybe, despite the long DNA chain, there are only that many combinations and people inevitably look alike? That's why siblings, who naturally share many same genes, look alike, somewhat.. Tian, for example, looks like Ling very very much, some 11 years apart. But of course there are exceptions: MZ and me!

Anyway.. Nice hairstyle right? :) Took it a while ago in my office. And earlier this morning after a nice jog - clocked a good one! -, I found myself starring into a very red mf in the mirror..

No, I don't have high blood pressure. In fact, I'm slightly anaemic..
(For the sceptic, that's also proof that I DO jog! :p)

And since we're at pictures...

The concrete slab turned out to be for the ground floor! The next should reach my floor, very happy :)

Lunch broadcast

Heard from the news last night that there had been an increased number of younger females among new HIV cases so they had some campaign and distributed condoms to young ladies.

Agree that condoms are not the responsibility of the men only. And no matter how small the typical lady's purse is, surely there's space for that little packet!

So, I should get one for myself, one with the furthest expiry date *.*

Gee, I'm so bored I'm "reporting news".. I shall watch Combien Tu M'Aimes tonight, and Pirates tomorrow.

*meow*

Yesterday, took a cab to test some functions of a new website we're coming up with. The cabbie had this really spicy scent pouch, like ginger or something - couldn't take it! But after struggling to breathe for the first two minutes, I found that I could no longer smell it.. Does it mean that I'll feel pretty normal two minutes (maybe more but eventually) after you dump me in a shit hole?? *.*

Used a webcam for the first time during the test session. The image was a bit small and everything was a bit dark, so it made me look prettier! :p And there was this cute function that could trace my image onto that of a kitten. Entertained myself (and others) winking, shaking my head and seeing the animated meow do the same!

I like my current hairstyle, really quite nice. Pictures when I have the time.

Boobie tales

All in a day..

1) We were talking about staff welfare and how we could have our retreat at Andana Spa if there weren't many of us.

TO: Only thing is we'll all be in robes!
mf: So Japanese! :)
LY: Separate men and women..
mf: And use audio conferencing!
LY: Then LH can *pumping (breast milk) action* at the same time!!

2) We were warming up before class..

Sito: I think my chest bigger than yours..
mf: Go away! =/
Sito: Does your sister have big boobs? .. How about your mum?

Omg, that's so disturbing!

3) Tru's loose camisole was showing off a bit of her bra..

mf: Take it off!
Tru: Huh? I've only got this top..
mf: The bra la..

My theory: Unless you're jogging or unless you're cup C and above, don't have to wear bra all the time!

Tuesday 18 July 2006

Was lying in the dark and totally engrossed in this sad song by Karen Mok when it stopped suddenly. Mother had come into the room and turned off the main switch without checking!

I could never enjoy my music in peace! The incident was a catalyst, the song another; bottled up emotions unlocked themselves and I started tearing as I put the track on repeat. I need breathing space. I don't want to snap.

Food food food

Last night, Kel and Moh bought some snacks while I grabbed some apples and a sparkling new fruit knife from NTUC. Checking out my new knife later at MOS..

Kel: You don't like to sit on the bench, right? So we move in and let you sit on the chair.. ... Wouldn't you be so kind as to help me get one more pot of milk? *doe-eyed*
mf: *omg* ok, ok..

Then I stood up with the knife in my hands..

Kel: *gasp* It's ok if they refuse!!

I tasted the milk; it was actually half cream, which reminded me of this guy in my MSc class who drank single/double cream NEAT! Yeeks...

The upgrading works should reach the interior very soon, which means I'll be moving in with Grams very soon too. But pls don't forget me when I leave Tomato Town! We can still hang out eg at the nice cozy Macs near my Grams. Or the MOS in the town centre too - with milkshake! Ah, nice to have good friends staying nearby :)

Rewinding a bit to Sat.. Checked out this Sun with Moon Japanese restaurant with Sito and Hup. We were there at 6pm.. It was only the tea menu cos dinner was only served from 630pm.

mf: I'll like the mini tori kamameshi *from tea menu*
Waitress: No more; kitchen is preparing the dinner menu now..
Us: Let's order proper dinner then..
Waitress: You can't; we only start at 630pm.

Which begged the question: what do you serve during 6-630pm?!

Left the boys and headed for SF's house party, which was great fun despite me taking some time (and some red) to warm up to her bunch of some really funny friends and get used to their hilarious (bi-syllabic - only) language. Quite different from my usual, perhaps cos this was an, um, a more mature group? :p

Heard about the latest spectacular success of SF's "CCA" - these two got together within a week of knowing each other. Hey, you can spin your matchmaking skills into a lucrative business man! But for one particular client called mf, it's much harder work, heh!

Apparently, I drank a lot - only I had a red and I saw SF pour the last drop of the bottle into my glass.. But I wasn't even tipsy at the end of the night with additional JD at Bar None.. Bad sign - I've got too much fats =(

KLK's house parties had been comparatively sedate, just (a lot a lot of) food and games (including make-up!) and KLK talk and (more) food, no/minimal booze.. Plus, my eyes will surely pop if any one of you asks about my wildest orgasm, not cos of the question but cos it's KLK! Still, I'm keen for a KLK get-together around Xmas - waiting for someone to offer their kitchen now :)

Dancing tofu, wobbly tofu

New term: shabu shabu - the sound of thin slices of beef swishing in hot broth

Was at Waraku with Na yesterday..

Na: Put those difficult to cook stuff first..
mf: This is hard.. *poke poke* Radish? .. What is this?
Waitress: Radish..

Ok, put them in.. 5min later, our radish looked swollen.. I took one. Didn't feel like a radish.. Turned out to be a rice cake *.*

Word du jour: nira - Japanese for leek

I stupidly put udon in my mouth right after taking it out of the soup. Couldn't close my mouth. Soup dripped out.. Then, I spit out some food cos it was too hot.. Was it the same incident? Can't remember.. :p

The soup turned so thick that when I mixed it with some green tea (:p) the taste of the latter was totally eliminated by the soup. Think we OD on sodium..

Dessert included frozen strawberries and a ball of choco gelato. Cut gelato into wedges and stuck one into mouth - brain freeze *.* Na dumped one strawberry in her mouth and tried to show me the condensation.. My turn to eat strawberry whole..and I spit it out - too cold and I couldn't bite into the round thing!

So poor Na had to watch me spit food twice - yeeks :p Nvm, get used to it if we're going to share a place! Oh, we'll get the necessary pots etc to do our own shabu set :)

Amid all the funny incidents with food, we had a really nice chat. Ohisashiburi ne! :) Think the last few times we met, we were either at some nightspot or with the rest of KLK - difficult to talk.. We should chill like this more often.. Eh, you move to Tomato Town la! :p

Met Siok this am to pass her guide book on central Europe. Heard a shocking news that she has been posted to another division! So sudden =( Hey, have a good trip and see you in a month's time!

Friday 14 July 2006

Very happy leh!

Left office at 615pm yesterday - early early! :) - and went for a jog! :) Um, actually, a brisk walk.. I decided after just one min that I was too tired to do that much work against gravity..

But I took a longer route to make up for it. Mistake. It grew darker and I couldn't really recognise the park at night. Walked into a HDB estate when I missed a turn :p Nvm, turned back into the park after a few blocks..

Also controlled my breathing using what I learnt in pilates last time, keeping tummy in at all time. Plus I was consciously using my standing foot to propel every step forward, training for dancing..

Worked out a really good sweat in that hour. Think my butt and legs will be aching very much by end of today - I like :)

On the way back, I saw two very cute cats. Ok, maybe they were not very cute but it was the way they were crouching in the grass, without "talking" to each other, just enjoying each other's silent company. I told them I thought they were very cute :)

Was removing my socks when I heard a commotion in the kitchen. Apparently, YQ lost two fish. The tank was covered by mesh so they couldn't have jumped out. But they were too big for the third fish - only twice the size - to eat! Still, they couldn't find a trace of the fish.. Feeling rather disgusted cos I was trying to have my dinner during the futile search and discussion about possibly dead (eaten) fish.. Still, I was rather..amused..

It was a good day. Happy :) Go count the number of :) and be happy with me :)

Needs vs. wants

For my farewell gift..

LH: What do you want but have not gotten? Will get for you if within budget..
mf: A white or bright yellow bath towel..? *since you can't get a man off a shelve! - no I didn't say that, just in my mind*
LH: Towel?! Are you sure?!

I realise I have a lot of needs eg I need my own room and related, I need a miraculous cure for my nose, I need to know the reason for my existence. But when it comes to wants, there's nothing I really really want.. Or maybe, there's nothing I really want that people can get for me.. Eg I want to eat chocolates and cashew nuts without getting fat?

Monday 10 July 2006

I had a very good sleep!

Yes, I slept right through WC finals cos I bunked over with Grams and Aunt! Smart right? :p But I'm not living in some cave; I know Italy won and Zidane kena for his head incident with Ma..eh, can't spell!

Kept waking up in the middle of the night in the past month cos they were always noisy watching WC. Last night I only woke once cos my hand touched something warm.. Was a little conscious that Aunt was beside me; it was some time since I last shared a bed, discounting Meh et al. Hope I didn't kick her or something! You see, Meh never complains if I kick her (seldom), and Eeyore never scolds me for using him as a pillow (sometimes)

Aunt is on pm shift today but both she and Grams woke early and fussed all over me. Aunt bought chicken pie last night - I warmed that up. Grams asked her usual "you want beelok?" Milo la, so doting, right? :) And when I left for office, I turned back and saw Aunt standing at the window smiling and waving goodbye. Ahhh.. It's going to be a nice week :)

(pink for the warm fuzzy feeling..)

Actually motivation for the stayover was that I wanted to stay for dinner and watch Pirates of the Caribbean on TV but that was 630-930pm so it would be quite late by the time I got back - like to rest early in Sundays. Might as well stay! Brought some beer to drink with Aunt over groundnuts too :p

Now going back to Sunday morning, my first driving lesson.. Drove to Ubi at a snail crawl, never going above 50kmh :p Despite my spider legs and hands when changing gear etc, and the stupid rain freaking me out, I thought I did not bad la :) Kel/Moh was telling me to mentally record the number of times I stalled: ~5, max..

Wore my new dance shoes for class. Have a total of five pairs, of which two are latin and four from Supadance. I could have had another Bali vacation with that money.. Anyway, Shifu approved my dress for the compeition. Think I'll wear it to dance next Sunday just to make sure I can move in it for all four dances.

Saturday 8 July 2006

Happy birthday to Na! =)

Feels like a Sunday today, maybe cos Fri was so long I thought I had lived two days. Oh no, am I feeling old? *.*

Glad I went to work in party gear cos I didn't manage to go off early. Met Sito past 9pm, exchanged his new fashion ring for a bracelet - is it still called bracelet for a guy? Anyway.. It had this bit for engraving, first five letters free. Conclusion was to engrave "fuck u", better than some pseudo name. I voted for all small letters; all caps wouldn't be as nice, and no need to start with a capital letter when swearing right?!

He couldn't decide.. mf was described as being very alpha that night. So, I grabbed the pen and paper and wrote the following:

Fuck u
FUCK U
fuck u

Physical actualisation is better than imaginery visualistion. Finally he admitted the small letters were nicer but capitalised the "u". All the while, salesgirl was expressionless, not bantering with us or even smiling. Must have faced a lot of shit that day. Or cursing us for making her do OT..

Time to split. He was going to grab something for Na while I joined SF for KTV. Turned out they changed venue from Party World to Kabuki, a real KTV. Her husband told me on the way in, "Don't be shocked/surprised* if you look into one of these doors and see a naked woman dancing on some guy!"

* The difference between shocked and surprised.. Could imply how others perceive me. Wish I remember which :p

My first thought then was, hey, this would be YX's and Kok's hangout after retirement!! Had a good laugh over this with YX later :p

It was not really a place for serious singing; one mic wasn't working, the songs were on analogue, song selection system was crap. Anyway, while the rest were chatting away, SF and I started singing - guess what? - I Will Survive! It was so fun to sing that! :p But the MTV was crap, the usual low quality productions for English songs since they don't usually produce KTV versions. Tried a JJ song next and found that I was apparently the only one who could read Chinese decently, omg.. Hey, thanks for asking me along! :)

Left very soon for Bar None. Found Na and her friend dressed up as cats! Except that they had clothes on, minimal set of cropped top and short skirt.. I'll never walk out like that!! Ok, my figure sucks.. Sito just told me I got fat (and see below) *.* Anyway, it was a more decent crowd - invited and existing - than her last birthday bash so obviously more fun! The band was quite cool too, made me want to be part of a band! Think I've asked before but no harm asking again: is there a band out there who needs a vocalist?? :p

They were later called on stage by the band for some birthday thing. The band got two guys from the floor to dance with them. Everyone was having fun as we all cheered them on, though I quite pitied the girls who had to dance with two not very pole-like poles! No, not quite cute too :p

When I finally got to the dance floor, I was there for all of one minute..
1) I felt too tall among the clubbers! Despite all my alpha-ness, I prefer to hide in the shadows. I know many girls would love to be taller but for me, I wish I were about the same height as 99% of my gfs, sighs..
2) Also, my tube top was a bit threatening.. I hadn't worn that for more than a year. I hope it was because the material had become loose rather than.. *.*

So we were mostly sitting around and moving a little to the music except for the birthday girl of course - it was her night! Then, refering to Moh..

Na: Hey, one leg each!
mf: *.*
Moh: *.*

I was rather amused by the whole episode :p In his words, he was just a passive pole, just stand still - lol! Always thought Na quite cool to be able to dance with anyone. Eh, it's a skill ok! For me, it's just weird to gyrate with my friends la.. I'm ok with physical contact but if I don't usually have that much physical contact with you over kopi, I couldn't suddenly go physical in a different setting.. My physical contact are really limited to: Kel used to pinch my cheeks (now I'm more alert and will block!), YX and Tok poke my tummy (I'm ticklish but hard to fend off such attacks), and though I do ballroom with Sito and salsa with Hup, it's still odd to pole-dance on them!!

Aiyoh, actually, I'm quite shy and conservative after all! Heh..

Oooh, fighter planes just flew by, rehearsing for upcoming National Day Parade!

Anyway, spoke too early when I happened to glance at my watch and saw that it was 1am. I said I still felt very energetic despite the time! But from about 2am, I started to get drowsy - I had all of one drink. The 10hours of work finally caught up.. YX, Moh and I left shortly after that.

With all the guys buying drinks for Na, I didn't. Hey, let's do dinner one day! Moh said he would come along too for your birthday treat!

On the way out, SF called me to rejoin her. She had this friend with her she thought I should meet. But I was so tired! New guy vs. bed, I chose the latter :p

Back at 3am, slept by 320am. They were rather noisy in the morning and I woke to find it was only 7+! Rather pissed.. Tried to go back to dreamland but the damned birds started chirping very VERY loudly! Complained to Meh, got some much needed tlc, happier :)

Even happier when I looked at the souvenirs Na got me from Hokkaido. Thanks, I like very much! Think I may be distributing cat-shaped chocolates very soon :) Though it was a bit strange; I didn't get her any birthday present but received souvenirs instead :p Nvm, birthday treat, birthday treat!

Was watching episode #3 of Long Vacation - the first two happened about a year ago! - when LH told me she was in office and said I didn't have to go back. Apparently our boss sms her at midnight last night. Hmmm, that was after I told him I would deal with work after my hangover..! But I went back anyway, brought some stuff over, cleared some little things..

Met Kel and Moh for lunch at J8. Told them my first driving lesson was tomorrow and tried to explain the principles of the clutch, which Dan taught me on Wed, but my articulation was horrible! Thank goodness I'm not a teacher..

Learnt a sad truth.. It must be more than a year ago when I happened to have tea with Kel and his (much younger) army friends. Kel blurted out today that they commented I HAD FAT THIGHS! Think I was wearing a denim skirt that day.. Sob sob.. Wish you had continued to hide it from me!!! =(

We sat at Ah Mei for a long while after that, slacking the pm away with tea. Moh was playing Bounce on the phone. Watched a bit cos I had never gone through the 3rd stage! Then Kel pointed out a poster of a huge egg and we turned geeky (again)..

mf: That's magnified 300 times.. No, maybe 200..
Moh: *measuring, estimating* Radius of some 18 eggs, close to 400 times!
Kel: And there are gaps in between eggs..

Then we realised it should be ~pi r squared cos it was an egg afterall.. Eh, complicated..

Kel (physics): I'll use a grid lor..
Moh (eh.. complicated!): I'll fold the big egg into quarters, easier to estimate then multiply by four!
mf (mf-ised maths ie not very rigorously applied!): *slack* I'll just do a rough estimate like we did earlier.. If YX (comp science) is around, he may automate this with some programme, maybe iteration or what..

Think I'm getting old, feeling very tired now.. Need to make up for sleep.. Will wake early to jog tomorrow! Must work off the bad jiggling bits!

When a concrete slab means a lot..

Look at the centre one. The two gaps along the length with the column in between are for windows. So is the left width. The door is on the right side. Am already imagining how it would look like when completed :)

Fruity fluff

Someone sent me a while ago but forgot to save. Received it again this am. Better share now while I remember!

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

mf: My favourite fruit! But they oxidise easily so must eat once cut. No, I don't like to preserve them in brine.

Now Men.... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

mf: Grapes give me sore throat even in moderation. Seldom take wine but when I do, I prefer sweet reds.

Fighting over mf, sort of..

mf: Eh, I don't know the difference between inflation rate and consumer price index*.. I'm an economic idiot.

So TO went to ask her ex-colleague..and came to me selling the guy! SF was resident matchmaker so they were sort of quibbling over my, um, business..

Then it hit me: I'm officially - since 1 Jul - in a division of all but one married persons *.*

* The change in consumer price index will give an indication of inflation rate. Something like that..

Burp!

We did it again, CY and I. Every time we go out, we lick our (many) plates clean.. But that's one thing I like about hanging out with her - besides being such great company, she eats a lot too so I don't feel too bad gorging myself silly! I'm often conscious of looking like a gigantess walking among many tiny and/or thin friends; I don't need to feel like one when I see them picking at their dinner.

So, what did we have? Full main course and sinful dessert at Bakerzin - Hup (and Sito and CW, who were all shopping for the second consecutive day) saw me at the cake counter, rang immediately, "No cake! No cake!" But.. :p Then we proceeded to the food festival outside Taka and had, among us, kong bah pau, deep-fried vege pancake, chicken sticks, and peanut butter pancake!

Side story.. There was an Indian guy checking out the vege pancake (deep-fried, very good! Wa..) stall. Earlier in the afternoon, Sito was talking about speaking to strangers and I saw him talk to his #4 of the day. I decided to chat up that guy, and it was a spectacular success! Encouraged, I've decided do so more often to hone my comms skills - useful to be able to talk to all kinds of people besides aunties with babies :p

Superman!

He's my favourite superhero :) Grew up watching Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, stamping my foot every time Clark couldn't tell Lois his identity, every time Lois felt caught between the two men who were in fact one and the same.. Oops, seems like I cared more for the romantic plot than the action? Heh..

Latest Superman is super yummy.. But he can't beat the cuteness of little Jason who turns out to be Superboy! He has the sweetest eyes ^.^

Anyway, thanks to all who wished me well - I've passed my basic theory!! Might be a marginal pass cos I had some 4-5 questions I wasn't sure of but well, it's a pass! Also got my provisional driving licence and contacted friend's father for driving instruction. It's a matter of starting now :)

Attended KH's wedding yesterday. Bumped into WL who turned out to be the bride's cousin, and Moh who was part of the sword party, plus saw a number of familiar faces, excluding my group of course. It was really the full works man, with cocktails, ROM and vows, photo montage, video of morning proceedings, speech etc.. Had a good time catching up with the people. Learnt about the reason for BH's accident that destroyed his car - he was filming a school video in which he was supposed to crash and die, but somehow he really crashed! Very happy evening except that my stomach wasn't too well, gastric pain lasted for hours until I slept.

Thought the wedding was really sweet, the part where the father gave his daughter away. I don't see the need for the full works but I would love to have a doting father to give me away. Unfortunately, I have no such privilege. Any of my uncles would probably be willing to do it, but kind of odd since all of them have daughters anyway. How about my friends? Shit, I would need to choose one! .. To be fair, I have a fantastic idea! Kel, YX, Sito and Hup can flank me on four sides, then Tok could give me away since he's my "papa" since so long ago! Yeah! Problem solved! :) Heh, quite funny if that really happens :p To make it even better, I shall skip the usual sickness and health wedding vows for:

mf: You can turn bald, you can become a grouchy ah peh and have your Tiger with one hairy leg on the chair, but I'm sticking with you!
The Mister: You can add 50 pounds, you can turn naggy like an auntie and keep your hanky under your bra strap, but I'll grow old with you!

Wa liao, what a picture :p
